Religious Education

Religious Education

Religious Education is a compulsory part of the Northern Ireland Curriculum. It focuses on encouraging children to become informed and inquisitive about their own and others’ religious beliefs and practices.

At Oakwood, our children learn about the common elements of the Christian traditions and the differences between them and other major faiths. Our children have opportunities to explore major world faiths throughout the year and as part of Integrated Education Month.

Denominational instruction is offered to Catholic children whose parents wish them to be prepared for the Sacraments of First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation.

Should a parent wish to discuss any aspect of our Religious Education provision they are invited to contact the school office to make arrangements to do so.

As an inclusive school, the children support one another in the various celebrations and have the opportunity to celebrate their similarities and differences.
